Marriages, births, adoptions, naturalisations and deaths: The Civil Registry and Passport Office is responsible for registering life’s most significant events. According to the office’s 2010 annual report, the office continues to modernise despite the challenges of the global economic downturn and a significant decrease in revenue.

Among the office’s major achievements for 2010, the report cites the signing of a new contract for automating the Civil Registry, reconfiguring the office’s reception area for better customer service, and making printed information available in Spanish.

Another highlight of 2010 for the office was a symposium in Montreal, Canada, where staff members learned about how security procedures and biometric travel documents can help prevent terrorism and international crime in the Caribbean, the report states.
