Blue was a popular colour on Friday, as the staff of the Social Development Department took to the streets to tie ribbons on vehicles and residents.

It was the department’s “Drive Blue Wear Blue” campaign. The event was among several activities held during Child Abuse Prevention and Awareness Month, which was observed throughout April.

Many residents joined in by wearing blue on Friday.

“I think it went excellent,” said Stacie Stoutt-James, SDD’s Family and Children Services Division supervisor. “Persons had a better understanding of what child abuse is. In order to be proactive against child abuse, they have to arm themselves with the facts.”
