For some, financial success means retiring comfortably. For others, it means saving to start a family, building a home, or paying for their children to get a college education.

Without a goal, though, financial success will never be more than a dream, said Meade Malone Monday morning at a launch for a financial planning workshop scheduled for this weekend at U.P.’s Cineplex.

“All over the world the economic climate and situation demands that we take our personal financial future in hand, and that’s what we’re trying to do,” Mr. Malone said.

The first part of the workshop, scheduled for Saturday and Oct. 12, is a sit-down presentation geared toward goal-setting.

“We want to make sure that individuals are clear about what financial goals are most important to them, and then create an action plan around it,” Mr. Malone said.

After that, participants will be able to have questions about their specific goals answered by the relevant authorities during an afternoon expo.
