It was one big colourful gathering at The Moorings when nearly 100 of the territory’s seniors attended a ceremony marking the beginning of Senior Citizens Month.

Most of the women strutted colourful hats and dresses, while several men showed up in hats that matched their shirts.

Throughout the month, various senior centres will host in-house activities, which will include sports, arts and crafts. The month is being observed under the theme “Get into the Act: BVI Seniors on the Move.”

Seventh-day Adventist preacher Howard Simon delivered the keynote address at the event, urging the seniors to be cheerful and optimistic.

“If you want to be an excellent elder, then you must continue to share,” he advised. “Life gets sweeter when you share, so don’t ever stop sharing. As you get older, you think you have less to share. No. You have more to share, more experiences.”
