Drink plenty of water, get regular health checks and use medications wisely, speakers advised seniors last Friday during the Aging Expo at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

About 100 people from senior centres around the territory listened to speeches by medical personnel on the need to take proper care of their physical and mental health.

The expo was held as part of activities for Senior Citizens Month, which also included a general knowledge quiz and a variety concert.

The month is to conclude on Saturday with a picnic at Romney Park in West End.

The month’s activities have been well attended, according to Shirma George, supervisor of elderly and disability services at the Social Development Department. “We just want to encourage persons who are 60-plus and do not go to the various senior centres to participate in the activities we have,” Ms. George said.
