A large section of the beachfront deck at De Wedding Bar and Restaurant came crashing down on May 24.

Though several people were on the deck when it collapsed, no major injuries were reported, according to authorities.

“We didn’t get a report of that,” Police Information Officer Diane Drayton wrote in an e-mail Tuesday. “I was updated on the Music Fest weekend on Monday and the word was it was incident-free.”

Property owner Jenaro Callwood acknowledged the incident but declined to comment.

“I wasn’t there,” he said.

Fire and Rescue Services officials were not alerted to the incident either, according to Chief Fire Officer Zebalon McClean.

The restaurant had advertised the deck on its Facebook page on Feb. 8: “Our newly built stage/platform and open space is PERFECT for individual or group/band performances.”
