Marreth Smith danced to calypso music behind a table that displayed her farm produce during the Mango and Tropical Fruits Festival at the Noel Lloyd Positive Action Movement Park on Friday.

“I am having a good time. I have been out since morning and I have been dancing,” the farmer said.

She continued dancing even after participants showed up to browse her table.

“People have been buying the mangoes,” Ms. Smith said, adding that many participants had been willing to try different varieties of the fruit, including Julie, kidney and cottage.

All told, there were more than 20 mango varieties at the festival, according to Arona Fahie-Forbes, deputy chief agricultural officer at the Department of Agriculture.

“We thought it was great,” Ms. Fahie-Forbes said. “It was a family day, and the children and the seniors enjoyed it.”
