Government will accept entries for the Territorial Dress and Song Competition starting Feb. 1.

For the dress category, all outfits should include red, white, blue, green and yellow, in addition to black or white shoes.

Female attire should include a head tie, a skirt “patterned with segments of our culture,” a blouse and a petticoat, according to Government Information Services.

Male attire should include a shirt, a sash and black or white pants.

In the song competition, two to three verses of lyrics, with or without music, should reflect the territory’s culture.

Submissions should include the applicant’s name, gender, age and contact information. Entries should be submitted to the Department of Culture in the Ward Building in Road Town between 9 a.m. and 3:30 p.m. by March 30.

The submissions will be judged by two committees composed of members with relevant expertise, according to GIS.

The contest is hosted by the Ministry of Education and Culture, the Department of Culture and an ad hoc committee spearheaded by Eileene Parsons, a former culture minister.
