The Premier’s office is informing the public work is under way at the A.O. Shirley Recreation Grounds.   Persons are asked to  proceed with caution when using the facility.  

 

Horse racing

 

The BVI Horse Owner’s Association will host six races on Sunday at the Ellis Thomas Downs in sea Cows Bay. The races will include horses from both the USVI and Tortola. Post time is scheduled for 2 p.m.

 

Cycling

BSAFE is offering free bicycle lessons to children of all ages on Saturday. All equipment will be provided by BSAFE. The lessons will be held at the Festival Village Grounds in Road Town from 11a.m. to 4 p.m.  Contact Chris Ghiorse at 542-1981 or e-mail chris@bsafe.vg to book a 20-minute session.

 

Sailing

 

The Virgin Queen Pursuit Race will will take place on April 16. There will be two classes:  cruising and racing. Windsurfers are also welcome. Registration and nibbles will be at the BVIYC on April 15 from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m.

The BVI Dinghy Championships will be held on April 30 to May 1. Please contact richw@surfbvi.com for more information.

The Lowell Wheatley Anegada Pursuit Race & Cruise has been changed due to scheduling conflict. The event is slated for May 21-22.

Race to Bitter End Yacht Club — A new addition to this year’s calendar, to ensure we have at least one visit to Virgin Gorda. There will be a race to North Sound and fun and festivities at the BEYC on the Saturday evening. The race takes place May 7-8.
