On Monday, ex-Liverpool and Republic of Ireland player, Ronnie Whelan arrived to the territory to help promote grassroots football and raise money for the Sea Cows Bay Manatees and The Wolues football club.

In association with Tico/Highland Spring, Mr. Whelan hosted a two-day youth coaching clinic earlier in the week along with a six-a-side tournament. Tomorrow he will attend a formal fundraiser dinner. More than 40 youth players attended the clinics, with participants ranging in age from  5 to 14  years old. Tickets are sold out for the formal dinner at Peter Island Resort.

Radio

The Department of Youth Affairs and Sports is  launching ‘DYAS Voice,’ a bi-monthly radio programme geared towards informing the public about DYAS activities, along with featuring youth, sports and activities of various sporting and community youth organisations. The radio show is hosted by Dean Greenaway on ZBVI 780 AM, from 7 to 8 p.m. on the second and fourth Wednesday of each month. DYAS Voice will feature guests representing youth or sports, a sports calendar, history corner and call-in opportunities.
