In its seventh year as the St. Mary’s School’s primary

fundraiser, Virgin Gorda’s Jazz on the Hill is already a tradition in the territory.

The event was very successful this year, according to St. Mary’s School Principal Laura Fox.

“The quality of music was fantastic, and I think overall that people enjoyed themselves,” Ms. Fox said of the weekend concerts.

On Saturday, the event started with student performers – the school’s choir followed by the Elmore Stoutt High School Jazz Band.

“They’re really quite good,” said Meg Jones, who is visiting the territory from New York. Referring to the ESHS Jazz Band’s rendition of the R&B group Earth, Wind and Fire, she added, “It’s nice to hear them play familiar songs.”

There were a few changes in this year’s concert. This was the first year it wasn’t held in May, after rain fell during the previous two years’ events.
