Street cleaners are important to us.
They rake, clean up, bag and stay focused
On making the streets safer each day
As they push their wheelbarrows along the way.
Early each morning they are on the street,
Not knowing exactly what they will meet:
But working diligently with great pride,
Removing debris piled up on the side.
They should be commended, their work recognised
For the clean streets daily before our eyes,
Which allow pedestrians and drivers
To get around safely; also bike riders.
Let’s take a moment to say thanks and greet
Every street cleaner we happen to meet.
They work very hard throughout the year.
We must honour them and show them we care.
