Class three social studies students at the Ebenezer Thomas Primary School have been studying communications.

On a recent Friday, they got to see their lessons in action when they visited media houses and other related businesses in Road Town.

The first stop was this newspaper. After the students and teacher Shermiker Nibbs got off a safari bus, Rebecca Essumang, the Beacon’s administrative assistant, greeted them. Then Editor Freeman Rogers and other staff members explained the Beacon’s daily operations.

After an office tour, Mr. Rogers gave the class a newspaper printed in 2002, the year most of the students were born.

Then they headed for Jahphix, a television station, printing and publishing company.

Leroy Watson, Jahphix’s producer and engineer, took the class to the studio where the company records television shows.
