A taxi driver was robbed by two men and received minor stab wounds late on Saturday night, according to Police Information Officer Diane Drayton.

The victim, who was not publicly identified, was reportedly sitting in his car just west of the Tortola Pier Park at about 11 p.m., when the unmasked men walked up to him and pulled him out of the vehicle.

One of the robbers was armed with a knife.

The taxi driver “struggled” with one man, police said, while the other took his wallet from the car. During the struggle, the driver was stabbed.

The duo then got into a white vehicle and fled the scene, according to Ms. Drayton.

The victim was treated at Peebles Hospital and discharged.

Both assailants were described as black. One of them is about 5 feet 6 inches and the other is about 5 feet 9 inches with a medium build and a “local accent,” according to a police press release.

Detectives from the Criminal Investigation Department are seeking witnesses or information about the identity of the men, which can be reported by calling the CID at 311.
