All residents play a part in the success of the Virgin Islands tourism industry, BVI Tourist Board officials said Tuesday during the launch of the agency’s One BVI campaign.

“In the eyes of our guests, we are all from the BVI and must be good representatives or ambassadors of the territory,” said BVITB Marketing Manager Keith Dawson.

BVITB Director Sharon Flax-Mars said the campaign will include training for customer service representatives similar to workshops already undertaken by about 700 residents, most of whom are employed in the tourism industry.

Guidelines have been created stressing the need for staff to smile, make eye contact, use friendly body language and have positive conversations, among other pointers, she explained.

“We need to continue pushing,” Ms. Flax-Mars said. “We have to push because we need to be the best. No one person or company can do it alone.”
