Schools, businesses to be a focus

Activities in schools and businesses are among the plans for next month’s Caribbean Wellness Day.

The territory will join its regional counterparts in observing the day on Sept. 8, according to Government Information Services.

“Over the past years under the theme ‘Love that Body,’ activities highlighted during CWD included eating healthier foods, advocating for smoke free environments, getting regular exercise, reducing stress and having routine health screenings,” said Ivy George, coordinator of Health Promotion Services, on a recent edition of GIS Report.

This year, the Caribbean Community is launching a three-year initiative designed to promote physical activities and healthier food choices in schools.

Businesses are also asked to come on board. VI companies are encouraged to observe the day with activities in the workplace on Sept. 7.
