More than 30 Virgin Islanders studying at schools in the United Kingdom attended a recent seminar to improve their communications skill, officials said.

The VI London Office sponsored the seminar, which was themed “How to sell how you roll.”

Facilitators Dawn Butler, a former UK member of Parliament; Imran Khan, a lawyer; and Dean Cunningham, an author, led the seminar, which focused on developing job interview skills, according to a press release from Government Information Services.

The seminar also included a mock debate in which students simulated a session of the UK Parliament considering the question: “Are there too many lawyers in the world?”

After appraising the students’ performance, Ms. Butler gave them high marks.

“You performed your roles superbly and were able to clearly communicate your ideas and to make intelligent arguments,” she said. “These are skills that will serve you well in life and on the job.”
