Tasha Bertie was elected president of the Virgin Islands Civil Service Association this week, edging out Stephen McMaster, 52 votes to 32, Elections Supervisor Juliette Penn announced Thursday afternoon.

Meanwhile, Pascha Stoutt was elected secretary, Violet deCastro assistant secretary, and Carol Smith public relations officer, according to a VICSA press release.

Laurel Smith, the only uncontested candidate, will assume the position of treasurer.

Ms. Bertie will now lead the organisation’s executive arm for the next two years.

“I would like congratulate and thank all public officers for coming out and exercising their democratic right by voting,” Ms. Bertie said. “It is now time for us to come together as one so that we can turn the Civil Service Association into a first-class organisation.”
