Rotarians from the Virgin Islands welcomed another club to what they call the “Rotary family” this weekend: the Rotaract Club of Virgin Gorda.

District Governor Jeremy Hurst described the club, for “Rotarians-in-waiting” aged 18-30, as evidence that “the state of Rotary is exceptionally strong” in the territory, during a press briefing on Friday.

The VG group joins the Rotaract Club of Tortola, the Rotary Club of Tortola, the Rotary Club Sunrise and the Rotary Club of Road Town.

“I know that Virgin Gorda will benefit greatly from having the family of Rotary there,” Mr. Hurst said.

He was in the territory for a week as part of his duties as governor for the district, visiting all 80 of the clubs in the 10-nation Caribbean district. He said that the district is probably one of the most diverse in the worldwide organisation, since the clubs are spread out across the region.
