This year, Governor Boyd McCleary and his staff decided to celebrate the holiday season by coordinating a community service project.

As a result, a Virgin Gorda home got a fresh coat of paint.

Sister Islands Coordinator Vincent Wheatley assisted in identifying a VG family who would benefit from some assistance with their house and garden, according to a press release from the Governor’s Office.

Then organisers approached several businesses on Tortola and VG, which donated services and supplies toward the effort.

“It is only one small project, but in these times of austerity, as the saying goes, ‘every little helps,’ and the generous donations and support provided by local businesses shows that the old BVI tradition of helping those in need is alive and well,” according to the press release.

In recent years, the Governor’s Office has conducted a holiday service project in lieu of holding a Christmas party.
