A charter captain discovered the body of a 75-year-old female

French tourist floating in waters off Eustatia Island last Thursday, police said.

Nicole Marie-Marciette Freund was visiting the Virgin Islands aboard the Tau Ceti, a yacht owned by a charter company in St. Maarten, according to Sergeant Carl Mason, the acting police information officer. Mr. Mason said police were told that Ms. Freund and other Tau Ceti passengers had gone swimming Thursday morning when she became separated from the group.

The yacht captain discovered her body after a search, Mr. Mason said, adding that police believe the death was an accident.

Ms. Freund is the seventh visitor to the VI to die under similar circumstances since December. Several of the deaths occurred while the victims were snorkelling.
