Steps as simple as turning off the tap while you brush your teeth or taking shorter showers will go a long way in saving money and water, according to Lenette Lewis, national coordinator of the Caribbean Youth Environment Network.

Virgin Islands members of the regional non-profit organisation hosted an exhibition at the Central Administration Building as part of activities for World Water Day on Tuesday.

This year’s observation was themed, “Water For Cities: Responding to the Urban Challenge.”

Posters on display at the exhibition trumpeted slogans including, “Save a drop” and “Don’t flush away your savings.”

The display is aimed at “bringing home” the message about the need to conserve water, according to Ms. Lewis.

“There are a lot of easy things you can do to minimise the amount of water that is wasted,” the youth leader said.
