BVI Tourist Board Chairman Neil Blyden tendered his resignation last week, and his replacement will be appointed “shortly,” an official said.

Mr. Blyden, who has served as the board’s chairman since December 2010, tendered his resignation on Nov. 9, according to Arliene Penn, government’s communications director. Mr. Blyden’s resignation came two days after the Nov. 7 election of a National Democratic Party-led government. Mr. Blyden did not immediately respond to requests seeking comment.

Ms. Penn wrote in an e-mail that Mr. Blyden’s resignation was not required by law. However, previous transitions of government have prompted similar resignations.
