Fraud allegation

An American woman reportedly used a Virgin Islands-registered company to defraud a retired businessman

and a successful hip-hop producer out of $1 million each, according a lawsuit recently filed in a United States court. Ishita Ganguly allegedly told clients — including businessman James Campbell and Kevin Rudolf, a producer who has worked with Justin Timberlake and other artists — that she would invest the money in “humanitarian, social and economic development projects,” according to the Staten Island Advance newspaper. Instead, she used their money to buy jewellery and a multimillion-dollar mansion, according to the paper. The lawsuit alleges that she claimed to be the managing director for Astute Partners BVI Ltd., which she reportedly described as a private investment firm.
