Ronald Weisel, alleged to have captained a boat found carrying 58.4 kilograms of cocaine near Salt Island on Dec. 31, 2008, was found guilty in Magistrates’ Court Tuesday of three cocaine-related charges.

Mr. Weisel, 60, was convicted by Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens of unlawful possession of cocaine, unlawful importation of cocaine and being concerned with the supply of cocaine. Mr. Weisel, who represented himself, did not call witnesses or testify on his own behalf, Ms. Stephens said, though he did submit a number of documents and make various statements to the court.

“The only evidence during this trial was that presented by the prosecution witnesses,” the magistrate said.

Mr. Weisel maintained his innocence.

“I was not granted a fair trial,” he told the magistrate, who advised him he could take up such issues upon appeal.
