During today’s House of Assembly sitting, ministers delivered statements about the territory’s emergency response system, programmes to serve “at-risk youth,” a planned curfew law, and the recently completed report on the feasibility of drag racing in the Virgin Islands, among other topics.

Annual reports for the Vehicle Licensing Department and Shipping Registry, a road repair needs assessment, and a special report on electricity subsidies in the territory were made public without discussion.

During questions and answers, lawmakers gave updates on several ongoing projects, including a new health clinic in Virgin Gorda, improvements at Greenland Field, a committee on payroll taxes and the territory’s ongoing water issues.

Once the Biwater project is complete, residents who have experienced water interruptions should stop having such problems, said Communications and Works Minister Julian Fraser. He added that both the government and Biwater are working on completing the “conditions precedent” to the Biwater contract, and in the meantime, work on the project continues.
