The BVI Customs K-9 Unit recently received a 3-year-old Labrador retriever trained in narcotics detection.

The dog, Zoe, was presented to Customs Commissioner Wade Smith by Paris Nicholson, vice president of the Florida-based firm K-9 on Patrol Security (KOPS).

Zoe is the sixth dog in the department.

KOPS has worked with customs since 2003, according to the commissioner. Mr. Smith said the organisation has always supported the department and he hopes the “good working relationship” continues.

“I really would like to commend KOPS for their donation,” Mr. Smith said. “It is very significant and is a major step in the fight against transnational crime.”
