The Caribbean Examinations Council has sent out electronic summary results for students who took Caribbean Secondary Education Certificate exams in May and June of this year, but detailed results aren’t expected in the territory until Aug. 14, officials said.

More than 150 students in the territory took the exam, and the public will likely hear more details from Minister of Education and Culture Myron Walwyn after the arrival of the detailed results, said Gillian Douglas-Phillips, Virgin Islands CXC registrar.

CXC officials said in an Aug. 10 press release that regionally, student performance in the May/June exams has declined. Mathematics was said to be of particular concern to the council. A council committee reported that “topics such as the range, perimeter, and profit and loss that should be covered at the lower secondary level were not fully understood,” by many of this year’s test-takers.
