After a few days getting his arms around the Ministry of Communications and Works, Mark Vanterpool, the new Fourth District representative, is ready to focus on Road Town, he told the Rotary Club of Road Town Tuesday afternoon.

Mr. Vanterpool said he wants to make “our capital one to be envied within the next four to eight years.” To that end, he intends to propose a board to manage the greater Road Town area, which he said includes portions of the Third, Fifth and Sixth districts. The representative added that he hopes to institute a Road Town development committee within the next month or so, but that he would like that group to eventually be “elevated” to a statutory board through legislation.

“We will come up with a proper plan for the capital,” he said, adding that this will include input from business groups, private organisations and individuals.
