In the coming weeks, the BVI Red Cross plans to work closely with residents of Crab Lot and Purcell Estate to find ways to reduce threats from flooding and other disasters.

Private meetings and community consultations will be part of the organisation’s Vulnerability and Capacity Assessment Programme, according to Jason Lyons, the BVIRC’s disaster rick reduction officer.

On Tuesday morning, Mr. Lyons spoke to about a dozen people during stakeholders’ meeting at the organisation’s headquarters near Johns Hole.
“The British Virgin Islands Red Cross has in its framework of action a disaster risk reduction programme,” Mr. Lyons said.
The programme also will involve mapping disaster relief strategies and lobbying stakeholders for resources, among others measures, Mr. Lyons said.
