After an opening ceremony on Sunday, Education Week activities are ongoing under the theme, “Creating a Culture of Excellence through Prevention and Intervention.”

Coordinator Ruth Frazer urged the public to support the week’s events, which are to continue Tuesday with a 5 p.m. plaque unveiling at the Cancer Society building on Main Street, the former site of the Virgin Islands Senior School.

Later, Dr. Charles Wheatley will deliver a lecture on education at the H. Lavity Stoutt Community College, according to Government Information Services.

The Inter Primary Schools Sports Day will be held Wednesday and Thursday, with a march past at 12:15 p.m. Thursday at the A. O. Shirley Recreational Grounds.

The week is to culminate with the VI Stars in Education Award Ceremony, which will recognise and honour outstanding principals, teachers and schools.
