A man named Howard Hughes pleaded guilty in Magistrates’ Court on Sept. 7 to two counts of burglary, after breaking into Road Town’s Medicure Pharmacy and the adjoining Eureka Medical Clinic early on the morning of Sept. 4.

“I was using and drinking, and I really didn’t know what I was doing, to be honest,” Mr. Hughes told Senior Magistrate Valerie Stephens.

He also pleaded guilty to cocaine possession, before asking the court for forgiveness.

Ms. Stephens sentenced him to 18 months in Her Majesty’s Prison for the two counts of burglary and reprimanded and discharged him in connection with 0.3 grams of cocaine police found in his pocket.
