The Police Welfare Association will be hosting two back-to-school events for kids and their families this week in order to reach out to the community.

The group plans a family fun day on Saturday at 2 p.m. at the Festival Village Ground.  The event will feature games including bowling, golf and biking as well as appearances from cartoon characters such as SpongeBob SquarePants, Diego and Dora The Explorer.  The association will be selling food and back-to-school items to raise funds for the police’s annual Children’s Christmas Party. Later that evening at 6 p.m., the association will host a drive-in movie, a showing of the film How To Train Your Dragon.

On Wednesday, the police and the Virgin Gorda Action Committee will feature a drive-in movie at the Virgin Gorda Police Station. The film Madea’s Big Happy Family will be shown at 7:30 p.m., according to a police press release.
