Lawmakers returned to the House of Assembly Thursday with an agenda full of debates, documents and questions, and Premier Dr. Orlando Smith said in a statement that next month public officers will begin receiving their 2013 performance increments.

“When this is complete increments for 2014 will be addressed,” he added.

Legislators were in a closed-door committee debate on an amendment to the territory’s Pensions Act Thursday afternoon. The amendment will help bring the Pensions Act in line with the territory’s 2007 Constitution, Dr. Smith said.

There are nearly 100 questions to be asked during the sitting, and opposition lawmakers disagreed with Premier Dr. Orlando Smith’s motion to have them moved until after introduction of new legislation and debates. The day was re-ordered by a vote of eight to three.

Dr. Smith also laid a report on table about the territory’s 2011 General Election, while Education and Culture Minister Myron Walwyn laid a report on the territory’s prisons and the National Youth Policy and Strategic Framework.
