As part of a restructuring initiative in the Ministry of Communications and Works, Jeffrey Skelton has replaced Dr. Drexel Glasgow as head of the Public Works Department, according to Government Information Services.

The move will allow Dr. Glasgow to “better utilise his talents in the area of planning and infrastructure development as the ministry seeks to approach infrastructural development more strategically,” Communications and Works Minister Mark Vanterpool said in a GIS press release that did not disclose where Dr. Glasgow would be transferred.

Mr. Vanterpool also stressed the importance of the PWD.

“Public Works staff are first responders in the event of a disaster or emergency situations, and we want to ensure that the department is elevated to such a standard that the call for assistance will be to the Public Works Department first and not private companies,” the minister said.
