For years, Javier and Linda Morales have visited the Virgin Islands in December during Christmas in Spanish Town.

This year was no different. On Friday evening, the Puerto Rico couple was under a tent at the Virgin Gorda event, each holding a bottle of beer and dancing to music provided by a deejay.

“It is a very good place to be. I love the music very much,” Ms. Morales said. “I want to look at the clothes and the accessories they have.”

Mr. Morales said he may not shop but will enjoy other aspects of the event. “I love the beer and the music,” he said.

Under more than 10 tents, vendors stood behind tables that displayed various items, including toys, shoes, clothing and other gift items.

Althea Richardson bought her son a red toy racecar. “He loves toy cars,” Ms. Richardson said, as she lifted her son to her shoulder, while he held on tight to his new toy.

Some activities continued that night and the next day, in spite of rainy weather.
