A woman accused of stabbing two sisters with an ice pick was found not guilty of wounding charges on Thursday at the end of her five-day trial in High Court.

Around the time of the June 2011 incident that led to the allegations, Ms. Thompson was staying at the East End home of Sylvester Drew. On June 26, she was involved in an altercation with Mr. Drew’s daughters, Tamieshia and Tekeishia Drew, according to court testimony.

Prosecutors alleged that Mr. Thompson threw household items at the sisters before wounding them with an ice pick.

But defence attorney Patrick Thompson successfully argued that Ms. Thompson had acted in self-defence and that she was not the aggressor during an altercation between the sisters.

During the trial, Mr. Thompson said that there were several inconsistencies in the Crown’s evidence.
