Correction

A Sept. 5 business brief titled “Disciplined Accountant” contained material errors. Accountant Elvin Grant has successfully appealed a decision by the Association of Chartered Certified Accountants, whose Disciplinary Committee ordered that he be removed from the organisation’s register for failing to cooperate with an investigating officer. The ACCA’s Appeal Committee (not a disciplinary sub-committee as stated in the Sept. 5 brief) has ruled that the penalty should be reduced to a reprimand and that Mr. Grant be reinstated to the register. The Appeal Committee affirmed the ACCA’s original decision that Mr. Grant be ordered to pay approximately $4,000 in costs, not a fine as the Beacon incorrectly reported on Sept. 5. The Appeal Committee made no order against Mr. Grant concerning the costs of the appeal. The Beacon sincerely apologises to Mr. Grant for these regrettable inaccuracies.
