In his younger days at Elmore Stoutt High School, Raheem Baret was victimised by bullies several times, he said Monday as he prepared to join other students in a march against bullying in observance of the school’s first Love and Pride Day.

Shortly after he entered the school campus, Mr. Baret received a green ribbon, which matched his florescent green backpack.

“This signifies my stand against bullying,” the third form student said, referring to the ribbon. “I hope it motivates others to stop being bullies and also it helps others have faith in themselves.”

Now that he is older, he added, he rarely faces bullying himself, and he occasionally standing up for other victims.

After the students arrived at the school’s tent, several groups took turns performing songs, plays and poems with anti-bullying messages.
