Three performers in one. That’s what patrons at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College got on Saturday when United States singer and guitarist Raul Midon took the stage at the Eileene L. Parsons Auditorium.

Several times during the evening, Mr. Midon, who is blind, simultaneously played the guitar and the conga drums while making a surprisingly realistic trombone sound with his mouth.

Mr. Midon, who was in the Virgin Islands for the second time, performed for a small but spirited crowd during the first concert of the college’s Performing Arts Series.

The solo show began shortly after 8 p.m., with Mr. Midon performing “Mi Amigo Cubana,” a flamenco song he wrote with Bill Withers.

Occasionally between songs, he stopped to explain the inspiration behind his music.
“I wrote this song when I was dating the girl that would later become my wife. I didn’t know that at the time,” he said before singing “Waited All My Life.” “I wanted to do something to woo her, so to speak. I thought I should do something that not a whole lot of guys would do.”
