“There’s no service held here anymore,” read one of the clues in the Sol Rotary Go Further Car Rally.

The riddle — whose answer was St. Philip’s Anglican Church in Kingstown — was among many that 24 teams had to answer as they drove around Tortola during the Saturday event.

As participants competed for cash prizes, other questions tested their knowledge of history, businesses and geography from Road Town to East End.

The rally, which the Rotary Club of Tortola used to organise annually, was last held in 2009, said Julien Johnson, who headed this year’s organising committee.

This year, club members decided to bring back the event after they were approached by Sol, which wanted to sponsor the rally as a promotion for its new fuel, the Rotarian said. Sol provided $5,000 in prizes and donated $5,000 to the club.

“We expected slightly more cars, but all and all it was a good turnout,” Mr. Johnson said.
