Almost 350 children from around the territory are to entertain residents at the annual BVI Dance Fest on Saturday at the Sir Rupert Briercliffe Hall.

The show will include students from the BVI Dance School and dance groups such as JAD, JAD Juniors and the St. George’s Secondary School Dancers, said Sandy Lyons, the BVI Dance School director.

The event, which is scheduled to start at 6:30 p.m., will feature children of different ages in colourful costumes, Ms. Lyons added.

“These parents spend a lot of money and time on their children’s extracurricular activities,” Ms. Lyons said, adding that the Dance Fest will be geared toward showing appreciation. “They will be honouring their parents.”

The event is organised by the BVI Dance Fest Committee, a non-profit group formed in 2003 with the aim of raising funds to support children who may not be able to afford lessons at the BVI Dance School.

“We are in the final stretch of preparations,” Ms. Lyons said. “All the costumes have been handed out to the children, and they are all excited.”
