It didn’t matter if it was your first day bowling or you had years of experience under your belt: You were welcome to be on a team in the BVI Amateur Bowling League, which kicked off Monday at U.P.’s Cineplex.

Novelle Braithwaite was standing at one end of the bowling alley with a group of friends who formed a team. They all wore blue shirts with the name “Pin Killers” printed on the back. The team included players of all skill levels, he said.

“We are doing all right tonight,” Mr. Braithwaite said. “Hopefully the game gets better.”

The BVIABL was not his first bowling competition.

The competition is aimed at reaching novices, said Brenda Fahie, an organiser.

“Eventually, we would want to have competitions such as a youth league, women/men’s leagues.”
