Tropical Storm Irene may have made the sea rough on Sunday and dampened the moods of many, but it didn’t deter the participants of the Anything that Floats but a Boat Race at The Pub.

Rain poured and the choppy water splashed on shore, but the annual competition proceeded, with several onlookers wearing rain jackets.

The event started with the sinking dinghy race, where participants paddled a boat filled with holes around a buoy and back. Then, in the Anything that Floats but a Boat race, three teams raced homemade contraptions built from a variety of different materials.
