Following recent instances of theft, police are urging the public to keep a closer watch over their tools.

Last week, an employee arrived at a job site at Fat Hogs Bay to find that several expensive pieces of equipment had been taken from a building under construction, police stated Tuesday, adding that tools had been reported stolen from other worksites as well.

Also, less than a month ago, a car parked overnight at Wickhams Cay was “forcibly opened,” and $5,500 worth of tools were taken from it, police added.

“Police are urging contractors and foremen to ensure there is enough lighting around containment units to discourage thieves from entering at nights. Security cameras can also be very useful in monitoring and recording activities while no one is on the premises,” police stated. They added that anyone with information about these thefts can contact the intelligence unit at 368-9339.
