Members of Limelight Productions will let the genie out of the bottle this weekend. The group will perform its production of Aladdin at the Eileene L. Parson Auditorium at H. Lavity Stoutt Community College on Friday, Saturday and Sunday.

The production, which follows last year’s performance of Cinderella, is a pantomime, a type of musical comedy.

According to a press release from the group, Aladdin tells the story of a wicked man named Abanazer who is seeking the magic lamp with an all-powerful genie because he wants to rule the world. A family of “wannabe heroes” including Aladdin, his brother Wishee Washee, and his mother Widow Twankey try to prevent Abanazer’s scheme.

Producer Paul Cowlard said cast rehearsals have been “dynamic.”

“It has been amazing to watch the characters develop as the actors grow into their roles,” Mr. Cowlard said.

The show will be held at 7 p.m. on Friday, Saturday and Sunday, with an additional matinee performance at 2:30 p.m. on Sunday.

Tickets cost $20 for adults and $10 for students and children. They are available at the college, Infinite Solutions and The Allamanda Gallery.
