Sylvanna Charles added another crown to her collection Saturday night when she was named Miss Virgin Gorda Easter Festival 2013 at the Catholic Community Centre. The 18-year-old is a former Miss Teen BVI, Miss Caribbean Talented Teen AXA, and BVI Princess.

Besides the crown, and the title of Miss Poise, Ms. Charles won $3,000 cash and a scholarship, along with other prizes.

She was also awarded for delivering the best introductory speech, a James Bond-inspired “secret mission” to win the title and use it to improve child literacy that had pageant host Sharlita Millington calling her “a smoking gun.”

The BVI Dance School instructor earned the best talent award for her tap dance routine, and best cultural dress for her performance as “Mrs. C,” the VI’s national white cedar tree. In her tree character and costume, Ms. Charles took the audience on a virtual hike to the top of Sage Mountain, taking care to describe some of the park’s features and history along the way.
