After DNA analysis, police confirmed Friday that the body found in a ghut below Threadfalls on Sept. 25 is that of Norbert “Fix It” Wheatley, who had been missing since Sept. 9.

The family of Mr. Wheatley, a 68-year-old resident of Mountain Valley in Huntums Ghut, was notified, according to the Police Information Office.

Police had sought the public’s assistance in locating Mr. Wheatley after his family members reported his disappearance.

He was last seen on Sept. 9 close to the East End Police Station, according to the PIO.

Police are now seeking the public’s assistance in tracking Mr. Wheatley’s movements between Sept. 9 and 24, especially from anyone who may have given him a ride to Threadfalls in the Sage Mountain area or who may have seen him there.

Investigations are continuing, though police previously said they were not treating the death as suspicious.
