Late nights of studying, difficult assignments and lots of exam pressure are some of the things Jasper Hazel said he will miss about the Bregado Flax Educational Centre.

But that’s not all.

“I will miss harassing the teachers,” he joked. “Ms. Fenty was my favourite teacher to harass. She was a good target and fun, even though she was a little strict.”

Mr. Hazel was among 31 students who graduated from the school’s secondary division during a ceremony on Thursday at the Virgin Gorda Catholic Community Centre.

Keynote speaker Debra Hodge urged the graduates never to be deterred from achieving their goals and to see failure as a “steppingstone towards success.”

With their high school days behind them, the graduates will now have to act maturely, Ms. Hodge added.

“You must be responsible,” she said. “Nothing will happen unless you take responsibility for yourself. … There is no one else to blame.”

BFEC was the sixth of the territory’s six high schools to hold its graduation ceremony.
