“Greatness is upon me: I will walk like it; I will talk like it; I will act like it, because I am phenomenal,” students at Ivan Dawson Primary School repeated after youth advocate Henderson Tittle during their Monday general assembly.

It is a common scene for the New Life Baptist Church youth minister, who has volunteered his time for the past 15 years to pray at schools around the territory.

Mr. Tittle began by hosting motivational sessions at the BVI Technical Vocational Institute.

“I would just go there to encourage the kids,” Mr. Tittle said, adding, “I didn’t finish school, and when I saw those boys getting a second opportunity at the school, I didn’t want them to waste it.”

Mr. Tittle now visits several schools across Tortola, Virgin Gorda and Anegada — and occasionally Her Majesty’s Prison.

The father of two hopes his presence will motivate children to stay out of trouble.
